McClure to Speak at Parkview Graduation

Dr. Robert McClure will speak May 22 at Parkview High School.

Parkview High will welcome Dr. Robert McClure as one of its featured graduation speakers this week, according to district officials.

The Lilburn doctor has served on the school board since 1995, and currently in his fifth term that ends in 2014. His district area includes mostly Snellville and Lilburn schools

As the father of six Parkview High School graduates, McClure feels a special kinship to the school.

"People often ask you why I ran for the school board, and I jokingly say I hate large crowds, confrontation and public speaking, so it seemed like a perfect fit," he said in a 2011 interview with Patch.

"But seriously, it has to do with the enjoyment I get from watching students be successful. To watch kids walk across the stage every year [at graduations], knowing they've got a quality education and are ready for the next step in their life, is quite gratifying."
