St. John Neumann to Get $5,000 Kroger Grant

The Lilburn school's grant is part of a total of $22,000 that the grocery chain is donating to 10 Gwinnett schools.

 

in Lilburn will be getting a $5,000 grant from Kroger's Atlanta Division as part of its "Earning Plus Learning" program, the national grocery chain said in a press release.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division – which includes Georgia, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and Northern Alabama – will donate a total of $22,000 in grants to ten Gwinnett County schools as part of the program. The annual contest invited schools across the Division to creatively demonstrate how they promoted the 2011-2012 theme, “Healthy Living” within their communities.

“Throughout the years, Kroger’s Earning Plus Learning program has donated millions of dollars to local schools and students,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Once again, we are honored to reward these exceptional schools that have worked so hard to set an example in their communities.

$5,000 grant winners:

−        St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School in Lilburn

−        W.C. Britt in Snellville

$1,500 grant winners:

−        Burnett Elementary in Suwanee

−        Chattahoochee Elementary in Duluth

−        Dacula Elementary in Dacula

−        Grayson Elementary in Grayson

−        Parsons Elementary in Suwanee

−        Riverside Elementary in Suwanee

−        Walnut Grove Elementary in Suwanee

−        White Oak Elementary in Sugar Hill

The Earning Plus Learning entries took the form of scrapbooks, photos, videos, essays, news clippings and more.  All entries were reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of local and regional community leaders and the Kroger Community Involvement Team.

Throughout the Division, 63 elementary and middle schools will receive a total of $146,950 in grants for the program.
