St. John Neumann Wins Grand Prize in Video Competition

The win awards the private school $70,000 in tech upgrades, including 62 new computers.

St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School has been awarded a $70,000 prize for technology improvements, according to the Lilburn private school.

The school recently was notified that it was the grand-prize winner in the “Symantec Dollars for Desktops” video contest.

St. John Neumann technology teacher Allisan Mintz wrote and produced the winning video, which demonstrated how and why the school would benefit by migrating to Windows 7. The video highlighted Symantec, and its partners Dell and Microsoft.

Technology coordinator Karen Moraes and Bruce Brickey, the school’s drama coach, assisted with the video.

The grand prize includes 62 new Dell computers with Microsoft programs and Symantec software.

Also included in the prize pack: Ghost Solution Suite software, Symantec Endpoint Protection and Back Up Exec (including Disaster Recovery module) software, Windows 7 compatible hardware, and three sets of Promethean ActivExpression Learner Response Units.

The prize is especially valuable to St. John Neumann, which suffered significant (and costly) damage from the September 2009 flooding. It allowed the school to replace older computer systems and upgrade its technology tools.
