Berkmar Loses Opener to Etowah 49-14

Eagles prove two tough for the young Patriots.

The Berkmar Patriots lost their season opener at home against the Etowah Eagles 49-14 Friday night in Lilburn.

The game got off to a fast start with Etowah scoring its first touchdown in the first two minutes of the game.

The Eagles scored one more in the first quarter and added two more in the second while Berkmar remained scoreless.

Berkmar’s bright spot in the first half was an interception late in the second quarter in Etowah territory, but the Patriots were unable to convert it to a score.

Berkmar got its first touchdown halfway through the third quarter, but it failed to make the extra point.

Etowah missed a field goal but scored one more touchdown in the third quarter.  Etowah got another touchdown early in the fourth quarter.  Berkmar followed with its second touchdown midway through the fourth quarter and successfully completed a two-point conversion.

Etowah finished off the game with one more touchdown late in the quarter.
