Caleb King Not Drafted by NFL

Former Parkview player Caleb King was widely expected to be drafted in the sixth or seventh round of the supplemental draft.

Caleb King, the University of Georgia running back who was ruled academically ineligible, has not been drafted by any team in the 2011 NFL supplemental draft, according to NFL.com.

It was widely expected that King would be selected in the sixth or seventh round of the supplemental draft. King will have a chance to sign with an NFL team through free agency.

King was red-shirted his first season in Athens and had to play behind Knowshon Moreno his sophomore year. Moreno was drafted by the Broncos, allowing King to get more playing time. However, injuries and off-the-field issues plagued King as he was unable to become a solid starter for UGA.

King, who played for Parkview his sophomore and junior seasons before transferring to GAC, rushed for 430 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Bulldogs.

The draft was held Monday after being pushed back from last week as the NFL sorted eligibility issues concerning quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Pryor was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round.

The draft also included Northern Illinois’ Tracy Wilson, Western Carolina’s Torez Jones, Lindenwood’s Keenan Mace and North Carolina’s Mike McAdoo. Pryor was the only player drafted with the remaining players becoming free agents.
