He earned a roster spot with D.C. United after competing in training camp the past two months.

Blake Brettschneider, a former Parkview High School standout, signed Wednesday night to play with the D.C. United of the Major League Soccer professional league.

Brettschneider, who was selected by the team in the second round of the recent 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft, announced the signing on his Facebook page.

He earned a roster spot with D.C. United after competing in training camp the past two months. He had three goals in two recent exhibition games — two in a 3-1 win over the Ventura County Fusion on Feb. 20 and another in a 1-0 win over University of California-Santa Barbara.
