Football Predictions: Berkmar Vs Central Gwinnett

Central Gwinnett comes calling on Berkmar this week.

I was humbled a bit last week in my predictions of high-school football games played in Patch coverage areas from Stone Mountain to Cumming.

After a can-you-believe-it 21-3 record the first week, I cooled off to a 16-6 mark last week (38-9 overall). I only missed badly on one pick. Really.

So, let's lace 'em up for another week. Are you ready?

Central Gwinnett at Berkmar: Central Gwinnett travels eight miles down U.S. 29 in hopes of improving to 3-0 in the Region 8-AAAAA opener for both teams. The Black Knights have flat-out looked awesome in outscoring its opponents 95-32, but those opponents have a 0-4 record after two weeks. Berkmar, which beat Central 47-23 last year, is 1-1 after a 31-8 win over rival Meadowcreek last week, which should give the young Patriots a boost of confidence. Central Gwinnett 35, Berkmar 21.

Updated: The score of last year's Berkmar-Central was listed incorrectly in the original version of this article. Berkmar was the winner of that game.
