Parkview Beats Walton in 2 OTs to Advance in Football Playoffs

Justis Rosser scored the game-winner on a 15-yard TD as the Panthers beat the Raiders 20-17.

Justis Rosser scored on a 15-yard run on Parkview’s first play of the second overtime as the Panthers advanced in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA football playoffs Friday with a 20-17 win at Walton.

After Walton’s Anthony Price kicked a 19-yard field goal to give the Raiders a 17-14 lead in the first half of the OT, Rosser scored around right end as the Panthers (8-3) completed a comeback from an early 7-0 deficit.

Parkview will play at West Forsyth next week in the second round, according to the GHSA playoff brackets. West Forsyth beat Collins Hill 66-41 Friday night.

Walton, a state finalist last year in the large-school classification, finished the season 7-4.

Rosser scored two TDs for Parkview, including a 52-yarder that tied the game at 7-7 in the fourth quarter. Walton had taken a 7-0 lead on a 30-yard run by D.J. Smith in the first quarter.

The game ended 7-7 at the end of regulation, with both teams scoring touchdowns in the first overtime. Shaq Vereen scored from the 6 for Parkview, and Parker McLeod threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Smith for Walton.
