Parkview Boys Finish a Close Second in State Swim Meet

Ricky Lehner sets state record in winning the 100-yard breaststroke.

Led by Ricky Lehner's state-record performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, Parkview placed second in the Class AAAAA swimming and diving championships Saturday at Georgia Tech.

Lehner swam a time of 55.88 seconds to win the breaststroke event. He was Parkview's lone individual winner. Lehner also was fifth in the 200 individual medley.

The Panthers scored 244 points, just three points behind meet winner Peachtree Ridge.

Parkview's girls were eighth.

-The 200 freestyle relay team of Lehner, Mark Atuan, Geoffrey Carter and Joel Nickerson finished second.

-The 200 medley relay team of Lehner, Atuan, Rory Martin and Brandon Leavenworth was third.

-The 500 freestyle team of Leavenworth, Martin, Carter and Nickerson was fifth.

-Sean Piner was second in the 1-meter diving competition.

-Carter was third in the 200 IM.

-Leavenworth was fourth in the 500 freestyle.

-Nathan Jones was fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

For the girls:

-Julianne Kurke was third in the 100 breaststroke.

-Tabitha Banks was fourth in 1-meter diving.
