Parkview Grad Cone Picked by Rangers

UGA outfielder Zach Cone was the 37th overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft

University of Georgia outfielder Zach Cone, a 2008 graduate of Parkview High School, was selected 37th overall by the Texas Rangers in the Major League Baseball draft, which began Monday night.

Cone, an outfielder, was a compensatory pick between the first and second rounds.

“It was exciting to get the news on the plane, and it's a great opportunity," Cone said on Georgia’s athletics website as the Bulldogs were headed back to Athens after playing in the NCAA Regional final in Corvallis, Ore. "I'm sure I'll be talking with them in the next couple of days."
