Providence Boys Reach State Semifinals

Stars beat Savannah Country Day 3-1.

Providence Christian’s boys soccer team advanced to the state Class A semifinals with a 3-1 win at Savannah Country Day Saturday night.

The Stars (15-5) quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first half on headers by Ted Perry and Caleb McQuaig.

Perry’s goal came 7:30 into the game off a throw-in by Brent Hansen. McQuaig scored at the 15-minute mark of a crossing pass by Ryan Mozzone.

Providence led 2-1 at halftime.

Hansen’s throw-in led to another Providence goal with five minutes left in the game, this time Matt McGlamery finished for the score.

Providence will play at Pace Academy Wednesday in the semifinals.
