Bring Fido to Lilburn Farmer's Market

On August 3, the local market will host "Dog Days of Summer," so citizens are invited to bring their favorite pooch.

The will have its second annual "Dog Days of Summer" event on Friday, August 3.

The public may bring their favorite pooch to the evening's festivities, where they will be able to get special goodie bags for their dogs and pictures taken. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. across the street from in the parking lot of the .

Organizers of the event said last year was wildly popular, so they wanted to try it out again. Vendors and other activities will center around dogs, such as available frozen treats for the hot weather, a hot dog vendor that names its fare after dog breeds and information on doggie daycare.

Through the Lilburn Woman's Club, the farmer's market will partner with two animal-centered nonprofits to bring the event to Lilburn: Ahimsa House and the Gwinnett Humane Society.

Ahimsa House provides emergency care for animals whose owners are victims of domestic abuse. Gwinnett Humane Society provides adoption and fostering services for animals in the county.

In addition to the two pet-centered nonprofits, Clicks and Sticks Knitting Guild is the guest vendor of the evening and it will be able to use Lilburn Farmer's Market as a fundraiser that evening.

Music will be provided by Clark Brown, a guitarist and mandolin player for more than 30 years.
