Lilburn Idol II - A Full Night of Incredible Talent

An evening in the park is always great, but team that up with Idol II and it's an event to remember!

The weather could not have been better. Under clear skies and a cool breeze, 20 contestants competed for their shot at Lilburn Idol fame.  The talent was plentiful and the styles were varied - from show tunes to ballads and some "very tricky songs," says Leslie Edwin, Lilburn's Events Coordinator.

With most of the contestants being in the 10-14 age, voting by the fans was a biit higher than last week's Idol contest.

"It is exciting to see this kind of turn out because the City of Lilburn really wants to have a continuous stream of community events in the park," said Edwin. The staff strives to create no-cost events that are interesting and accessible for families, music lovers, and food enthusiasts. Bringing in local businesses to provide the optional things like concessions and the sponsorships from within the community will help to make this an ongoing possibility.

Great Stuff. Though I'm not really into the Idol format, anything we can do to promote our excellent little town and beautiful city park can only result in great outcomes. We need an ice cream shop and sit down restaurant in Old Town.

This is the ninth year for Lilburn Idol and our core of volunteers really enjoys working on the event. We are especially blessed to have Leslie Edwin, Lilburn City Event Coordinator giving us staff support for the event. She is working on bringing other events as well - such as Fourth of July Sparkle in the Park and Endless Summer Concert in September,
