County Applies for Funding to Fix Killian Hill Road, More Than 40 Other County Roads

If approved, Gwinnett County will resurface nearly four dozen roads.

Gwinnett County applied for funding on Tuesday to help them pay to resurface roads throughout the county.

The $4.47 million Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant from the state Department of Transportation will cover just about three-quarters of the cost for the road work. The rest of the $1.6 million needed would come from 2009 SPLOST funds.

“This work includes more than four dozen different roads that are in need of resurfacing," said Gwinnett Transportation Director Kim Conroy in a release.

The list of resurfacing projects includes 3.3 miles of Cruse Road, 2.4 miles of Oak Road, 3.4 miles of Killian Hill Road, 1.8 miles of Hamilton Mill Parkway and 2.4 miles of Fence Road.

If the grant is approved, the county would begin accepting bids on the projects in spring of 2014.
