Get Your Relay Team Together to Fight Cancer

Pat Swan named Co-Chairman of 7th Annual Lilburn Relay Rally

It’s not too early to start planning for the Lilburn Relay Rally scheduled to take place at Lilburn City Park on April 29 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mayor Diana Preston has named Pat Swan as Co-Chairman of the event.

Pat is a retired oncology nurse and was recognized and given the key to the city by Preston for her tireless hours of service and leadership in the community.

A long-time Lilburn resident, Pat volunteers her time for the American Cancer Society as well as serving as Parliamentarian for the GFWC/Lilburn Woman’s Club. She is also an active member of the Gwinnett ACS Leadership Council.

“It's about being a community that takes up the fight against cancer,” Swan said.

Last year, Lilburn took first place at the Gwinnett Relay Rally for the city that raised the most money in the county.

All monies raised at the Lilburn Relay Rally are forwarded to the Gwinnett Relay Rally held in May to support the American Cancer Society’s research and awareness programs to battle this terrible disease.

It only takes five or more people to form your own fundraising team under the name of your business or community organization. Now is a good time to start notifying your colleagues and extended family with your requests that they join your team.

If forming your own team is not an option, Pat Swan and the ladies from the Lilburn Woman’s Club invite you to join the club’s ‘Women in Action’ team by registering online at www.lilburnrelayrally.org

There will be a Relay Kick-off planning session at City Hall on Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to join the fight and learn more about the upcoming programs.
