Viewfinder: Lilburn Relay Rally

Annual fundraiser for cancer research raised $25K (Video and Photos).

The seventh annual Lilburn Relay Rally drew more than 200 participants who raised nearly $25,000 to go to cancer research. The "Women in Action" team, sponsored by the Lilburn Woman's Club, raised $8,600.

The event filled Lilburn City Park with music, food and tears, as the community came together honor those who have fought the disease.

In a poignant ending to the evening, 600 luminaries ringed the park as participants took one final lap, accompanied by "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes.

Note: Lilburn Patch wants to send out a big thank you to local photographer Richard Ferris, who supplied great photos from the event. For more of his work, check out his website of Lilburn images from many events.

Scott, what a beautiful commentary on our Lilburn Relay Rally! Thanks for being part of our event. And thanks to Richard Ferris for the great photos. I hope to see the Patch back again next year with hundreds from the community working together to make cancer a disease of the past.
