Election and Football Seasons Kickoff: Lilburn's Week Ahead

The qualifying period is this week in Lilburn and the high school football season kicks off.

1. The qualifying period for the November elections begins Monday. City Council Posts 3 and 4 are up for election. These seats are currently held by Eddie Price and Tim Dunn respectively.

2. The Lilburn Farmers Market comes to an end for the season this Friday. The market runs from 4pm until 8pm at 76 Main Street.

3. Fireworks will finally light up the city skies on Sunday. Sparkle in the Park is normally held on the Fourth of July, but was postponed due to rainy weather. Festivities start at 4pm and the fireworks show begins at 9:30pm.

4. High school football kicks off on Friday. Both Parkview and Berkmar open their season on the road. The Panthers at Peachtree Ridge and the Patriots at Duluth. Kickoff for both games is 7:30pm.

5. Monday is Women's Equality Day. It celebrates the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote.
