Most of Lilburn's governmental affairs are handled inside the walls of the Calvin Fitchett Municipal Building --More which houses city hall --  in the heart of Old Town Lilburn, adjacent to the Lilburn City Park.

City Hall houses virtually all of the city's government offices, including the mayor and city manager's offices, the Lilburn Police Department and the Lilburn Municipal Court. Other departments include city clerk, finance, public works, marketing and events, sanitation, streets and parks and recreation.

The city council meets the second Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. The city's boards and commissions also meet in the auditorium on a regular basis. Most meetings are open to the public.

The police station is located within the Calvin Fitchett Municipal Complex, located in downtown Lilburn, adjacent to Lilburn City Park.

John Davidson is the Chief of Police.

The department reports speedy response times, typically less than three minutes for emergencies and less than five minutes on routine calls.

The department's Uniform Patrol Section includes 13 officers, four sergeants, two lieutenants and a captain. Officers patrol public places and neighborhoods, respond to emergency and criminal calls and provide security for city events. Duties also include community outreach, such as watching over residential homes when residents are on vacation.

Three investigators are assigned to the Criminal Investigations Section, which follows up on criminal cases, when necessary.

The Community Response Team of the Operations Division works with residents and businesses on crime-prevention programs.

Three officers man the Traffic Enforcement Unit.
