Jingle Bell 5K Brings Cheers, Despite Chills
More than 150 participate in annual fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation.
They came wearing reindeer ears and Santa caps. Bows and bells, too. Even dogs were dressed in their Christmas best for the second annual Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk, held on a chilly Saturday morning in Old Town Lilburn. "I'm not sure what she's dressed as," said Katie Bitner, referring to her dog Riley, who wore a Santa costume and beard, and a bright-green tutu. "She likes the tutu, though." Bitner, an employee with the Arthritis Foundation, was one of an estimated 150 participants in the event, which raised money and awareness for arthritis. The event raised more than $15,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. Organizers says arthritis affects 1.6 million Georgians, including 9,200 children.
