Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day Brings Out Crowds of Supporters

Crowds flocked to area Chick-fil-A restaurants on Wednesday, as patrons showed up to support the business and its owners.

Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate, called for a "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" on Aug. 1, and throughout the area, many patrons flocked to nearby restaurants to show their support. In July, Chief Executive Officer Dan Cathy made headlines when he was quoted in a Baptist Press interview as saying he supported "the biblical definition of the family unit." “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives,” Cathy said in the interview with Baptist Press. Now, the public wonders if Cathy and Chick-fil-A are anti-gay. The comments have led to support on one side, and concern on the other. And, patrons everywhere are showing their support for the company. --Were you …

Is Chick-fil-A Anti-Gay Marriage?

The restaurant CEO said his business supports the 'biblical definition of the family unit,' causing an online controversy.

Lunch and breakfast lines seem just as long at Chick-fil-A restaurants in Lilburn, though the chain is under fire for comments its president Dan Cathy made in an interview with the Baptist Press. In the interview, Cathy described his support for "the biblical definition of the family unit," reports the Los Angeles Times. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives,” Cathy said in the interview with Baptist Press. The article noted that the popular restaurant chain trains workers “to focus on values rooted in the Bible.” Chick-fil-A's across the country are closed on Sundays for the Sabbath. Do you agree with Chick-fil-A's CEO? Will his comments affect whether you patronize his restaurant…

Readers' Choice: And the winner is...

Chick-fil-A is the place to go for sweet tea in Lilburn, Patch readers say.

The votes are in: Chick-fil-A has the best sweet tea in Lilburn. Chick-fil-A got exactly 50 percent of the votes in this week's Readers' Choice poll, in which we asked readers where to find the best of that southern sweetness. McDonald's came in second place, and Spiced Right was third. Congratulations to Chick-fil-A, which not only has great tea, but does a lot of good things in our community. Five Things to Know Today, March 6

Guaranteed to tell you something you didn't know yesterday.

Welcome to Super Tuesday!  Here are some things to know as you head into this politically charged day.  The weather: The chance of rain is 0% today.  It should be a beautiful, if somewhat crisp, day, with a high of 59 and a low of 37 tonight. Dressing in layers is probably a good idea.   Gas Prices: Not much has changed, folks.  Late last night gas prices were reported to be between $3.63 and $3.69, with the cheapest gas available at Gulf (127 Arcado Road and N. River Drive).  Kroger, Walmart and Sam's Club all offer discount prices for their gas.  At Kroger and Sam's, simply use your membership card, while at Walmart you will need to purchase a gift card first.  Every little bit helps.  Will high gas prices effect your travel plans over …

Five Things to Know Today, Feb. 15

Guaranteed to tell you something you didn't know yesterday.

Welcome to Wednesday. Here are some things to know today. The weather: Drive carefully on your commute this morning -- we'll have some fog before 10 a.m., the National Weather Service says. The sun should come out after the fog clears, but we'll probably get more rain tonight. The high will be around 63 and the low tonight about 49 degrees. Gas prices are little changed from yesterday. The lowest price for a gallon of regular reported to www.georgiagasprices.com as of 10 p.m. Tuesday was $3.41 (at Kroger, 3050 Five Forks Trickum Road near Oak Road, and at two other places). The highest was $3.58 (at Texaco, 4785 Lawrenceville Hwy at Indian Trail-Lilburn Road). Computers. The first general purpose computer, as opposed to ones developed to …
