Back By Popular Demand settled in Lilburn in 1980, and the store is celebrating with special goodies for customers. Owner Melissa Baxter talks to Patch about what has kept the business going.
Back By Popular Demand, a consignment store in Lilburn, is celebrating its 32nd anniversary today, Nov. 15. According to owner Melissa Baxter, Back by Popular Demand (BBPD) is the oldest of its kind in the Atlanta area. On Nov. 15, the store will celebrating its 32-year history by offering cupcakes, cookies, and 32 percent off regularly priced items in the store. And, yes, that will include designer clothing, purses and shoes. Happy anniversary, Back by Popular Demand. The consignment store at 4915 Highway 29 is 31 years old this month -- the oldest in the Atlanta area still in business, the shop says. To celebrate, the store is offering a 31 percent discount on all clothing through Saturday, and accessories are marked down 15 percent. Melissa Morales was just 20 years old when, in 2002, she bought the store that Dot York opened in 1980. Morales has twice expanded the store since as it gained a steady and growing following, and Back by Popular Demand now has more than 8,000 square feet of gently used designer and other clothing, handbags and other accessories.
