Lilburn 2013 High School Football Schedules Are Out

Check out the fall lineup for Parkview, Berkmar and Providence.

Football season is just four months away, and here's another reminder. The 2013 football schedules are out for Lilburn schools, as well as others in the Georgia High School Association. So here's something you can print and stick on the refrigerator to be ready. -- Will a Lilburn team win the region next year? Tell us in the comments below. Some key dates: Parkview plays against Norcross on Sept. 6 and Brookwood on Sept. 27. Berkmar will play against the Panthers on Nov. 1. Girls Soccer: Parkview Reaches State Quarterfinals

The Lady Panthers are one of the six Gwinnett teams to win their Tuesday night matches.

Six Gwinnett County girls soccer teams won second-round matches Tuesday night, advancing to the Georgia High School Association quarterfinals, which begin Friday, May 10. All-Gwinnett matchups highlight Tuesday's play in the Georgia High School Association girls soccer tournament.

Parkview, Providence Place in Boys State Track and Field Championship

Parkview scored in 24th overall and Providence placed in 14th overall at the Georgia High School Association meet, which was held May 2-4 in Jefferson, Ga.

Led by individual wins by Tyler Woodrome and Michael Cheeks, Mill Creek won the Class AAAAAA boys track and field championship, held May 2-4 in Jefferson, Ga. Mill Creek finished with 59 points to beat second-place Hillgrove, which had 43. Brookwood (35 points) was third, Shiloh (30) fifth and North Gwinnett (27.5) sixth. The Mill Creek 4x400 relay team, which included Woodrome and Cheeks, also won first place in a time of 3:24.22. Braden Canamare and Allen Eckles were also on that relay team. In Class AA, Darius Slayton won the 100 and 200 meters as Greater Atlanta Christian finished second in the team standings…

Lilburn Teams Reach State Soccer Playoffs

Parkview and Berkmar High are among schools in the Georgia High School Association's state soccer tournament.

Three schools in Lilburn have made it to the state soocer playoffs. Those schools are: Berkmar High, Parkview High, Providence Christian Academy. (See bracket list below.) In all, 27 Gwinnett County teams have qualified in five classifications for the Georgia High School Association soccer tournament. The roster includes Collins Hill’s boys and Greater Atlanta Christian's girls, who will be defending their state titles. Most first-round games in the girls tournament begin Tuesday, April 30. The boys start play May 1. State Basketball Tournament: Berkmar Boys Fall to Norcross in Quarterfinals

It will be Norcross High that moves on to the semifinals, after beating Berkmar High Wednesday evening.

In the end, the Berkmar Patriots could not hold off the Norcross Blue Devils in the quarterfinal round of the state basketball tournament. Norcross High School won the game with a more than 20-point lead, 56-35, according to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).  This ends the season for Berkmar High School, which were last state champions in 2000 and 2001. Now, Norcross High moves on to the semifinal round, where the final four teams battle for the state title. And, according to GHSA, the matches are all set: Wheeler High will play Hillgrove High at 5:30 p.m. at Georgia Tech on March 2, as well. State Basketball Tournament: Berkmar Patriots Meet Norcross Blue Devils in Quarterfinals

The game will be 7 p.m., Feb. 27, at Norcross High School.

Clinching a win against Alpharetta High School on Saturday, the Berkmar Patriots now march into the quarterfinal rounds. Berkmar High School's boys team won, 56-48, according to the Georgia High School Association. The team now will meet the Norcross Blue Devils, the 2011 state champs. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 27, at Norcross. The winner of Wednesday's match go on the next round, which will be held 8:30 p.m., March 2, at Georgia Tech. -- Will you be at the game? Berkmar Boys Advance in Basketball Tournament

The team defeated Roswell Hornets for the first-round win.

Berkmar High's boys basketball team is advancing into the second round of the state tournament. On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the team -- which entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed -- beat out Roswell High School. The Roswell Hornets were runners-up in the Region 5-AAAAAA finals. The final score Wednesday was 60-47, according to Georgia High School Association. Providence Christian Girls, Boys in Top 20 GHSA Basketball 'Power Ratings'

In ratings released this week, Providence Christian Academy's basketball teams are listed as leaders among private schools in the state.

Providence Christian Academy's girls' and boys' basketball teams are both listed this week in the "power ratings" released by the Georgia High School Association. The girls' team is ranked No. 10 of Georgia private schools, with a current record of 16-8. The boys' team is ranked No. 19, with a current record listed of 12-12. These records were updated Feb. 12. The final "power ratings" will be released on Feb. 19. Class A brackets will be published on Feb. 20. Parkview Sending Wrestlers to State Tournament

The state wrestling tournament will be held Feb. 14-16 in Macon, Ga.

Parkview High School's wrestling team has five wrestlers who have qualified for the traditional state tournament this week. The tournament takes place Feb. 14-16 in Macon, Ga., according to the Georgia High School Association. Fans may watch the match live via GHSA.tv for a nominal fee, or after the conclusion of the tournament for free. Parkview Panthers Qualifying From Coach Joshua Porter: "Khalil, Harrison, and Andrew all have wrestling people predicting them to place at the tournament. All five of them are perfectly capable of doing so if they believe in themselves and want it bad enough. I believe in them!" See also:
