Lilburn Middle School will soon have a new principal, Yvette Arthur.
In a special called meeting Nov. 9, Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed a new principal to Lilburn Middle School. Yvette Arthur, currently principal at Jones Middle School, takes over for Gene Taylor. The former principal accepted a position at North Atlanta High School. Arthur, along with several other new principals chosen Friday, will assume her new role in the coming week, according to a press release from Gwinnett County Public Schools. A 2012 graduate of the district's aspiring principal program, Arthur previously was an assistant principal at Snellville Middle School and a sixth-grade teacher at Hull Middle School. She has been with the district since 2005.
Andrew Schoen, an eighth grade teacher at Lilburn Middle School, was surprised Tuesday with $1,000 in school supplies from an Office Max program.
Lilburn Middle School Principal Dr. Gene Taylor paid a surprise visit to Andrew Schoen's classroom Tuesday. "We're going to have to interrupt your instruction," Taylor told Schoen, "but I think you and your students are going to forgive me for this." Seconds later, Robby Coleman, the manager of the Loganville Office Max, was presenting the eighth grade Georgia history teacher with $1,000 in school supplies, including a chair, printer, markers and more. "This is unbelievable," Schoen said. "This is a great honor. It's very humbling." Schoen said he would have had to buy most of the donated supplies himself without the award.
