SWAT Standoff in Suwanee, Firefighters Held Hostage

News reports indicate that firefighters were dispatched to the scene for a medical call.

Updated 6:22 p.m., April 10: Check for updates to this story by clicking here. ------- A Gwinnett Police SWAT team is on the scene of a standoff in unincorporated Suwanee on Wednesday afternoon. According to a news release, a gunman is holding five Gwinnett firefighters hostage. Firefighters apparently had responded to the residence on Walnut Grove Way for some type of medical call. The area is near Collins Hill Road and Taylor Road, near Collins Hill High and Walnut Grove Elementary. -- Patch will have updates as they become available. Check Suwanee Patch.

Couple Arrested for Public Sex Act Following Easter Service

A Gwinnett County police officer found the two in a car in a Kroger parking lot off U.S. Highway 78 in Snellville. One of those arrested is from Lilburn.

A man and woman were both arrested in connection to having sex in a Kroger parking lot on Easter Sunday in Snellville. According to the Gwinnett County Police Department report, an officer was patrolling the parking lot at 4002 Stone Mountain Highway at around 11:25 p.m. when he noticed the silhouette of a woman's head bouncing up and down in the front seat. When he got closer, the officer saw a man naked from the waist down sitting in the driver's seat. The woman, who was also partially naked, was performing oral sex on him. The officer knocked on the window and gestured for them to open it. The man, who was 26-year-old Snellville resident James Earl Grant, told the officer that they "were making out," according to the report. He and the …

Parkview Student Robbed on the Street

Inside the Police Reports: Three students were walking near Pucketts Drive when they saw four men running toward them.

A Parkview High student said he was robbed after he and his friends encountered four men while walking to a friend's house in Lilburn. According to the Gwinnett County police report, the 17-year-old boy told police that he and two other students, both 14, were walking to their friend's house on Rock Haven Drive near Pucketts Drive around 10:30 p.m. on recent Saturday. They saw a white passenger car drive up and down the street several times. As he and his friends approached Rock Haven Place, he saw a man standing at the intersection. The man called to them and said "Hey, you, come over here," according to the report. As they walked up to the man, three other men ran out from behind a tree at them. Police: Student Brought Gun to Saturday Track Meet at Parkview High

David Augustus Lee II, a student at Archer High, was charged and arrested with possessing a weapon on school grounds at Lilburn's Parkview High School. No one was hurt.

An Archer High student has been released from jail after being charged with having a handgun present during a school sporting event.  David Augustus Lee II of Lawrenceville was arrested March 30 at Parkview High School in Lilburn, where he was attending the fourth annual Big Orange Relays track meet. A witness at Archer High alerted police to the possible presence of a weapon; Lee's arrest followed a search of his vehicle by school officials. Gwinnett County school officials confirm the student is a sophomore at Archer High, and say in cases such as this, that students are out of school pending a disciplinary panel. Stephen O’Reilly, who lived with the victim at a Snellville home on Hurndon Road, is awaiting extradition and transport back to Gwinnett County.

A suspect in the stabbing death of a man in Snellville turned himself in to police on April 1 in Escambia County, Fla. The suspect is identified as 24-year old Stephen O’Reilly, who lived with the victim at a Snellville home on Hurndon Road. Brent Francis, the 28-year-old victim, died from injuries Saturday. Before Francis died, however, he was able to tell officers that O'Reilly had attacked him. Investigators believed that O'Reilly fled the scene in Francis' vehicle, and issued a "be on the lookout," or BOLO, for the suspect and the stolen car. On Monday, O’Reilly turned himself in to officers in Escambia County, Fla., and the stolen car was located in Pensacola, Fla. O’Reilly is being held in Escambia County, and he is awaiting …

Police: Man Steals iPhone, Leaves Woman Battered in Fake Accident Ploy

Gwinnett County police say the female victim exited her car to check the accident damage when the attack happened. The "Find my iPhone" app led police right to the suspect.

Gwinnett County police believe they have the man in custody responsible for an accident ploy that left a Lilburn woman battered, bruised and bloody. The suspect is identified as Felipe Machado, of Lawrenceville. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on various charges, including battery and robbery. He was arrested Sunday following the attack of a Lilburn woman, who said she was on her way home from visiting a friend in Atlanta when the incident happened. It was before 5 a.m. on Sunday (March 24), that the victim first noticed a silver car following behind her on Rockbridge Road.
