Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services located the body of a missing Lake Lanier swimmer just after 8 a.m. Monday in the area it was originally thought he may have entered the water. According to a press release, rescuers returned early Monday morning to resume the search and quickly located the man's body floating on top of the water. It has been turned over to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner for further evaluation and to determine the official cause of death. GCFES began looking for the missing swimming after being called to Buford Dam Park at about 8 p.m. Saturday night. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services were working a possible drowning at Buford Dam from about 8 p.m. Saturday night. Attempts to locate the missing person were unsuccessful and the incident was turned over to the Department of Natural Resources to resume the search Sunday morning. According to Lt. Eric Eberly, spokesperson for GCFES, firefighters responded to a report of a missing swimmer in the water at Lake Lanier just after 8 p.m. Saturday night.
