House Fire Prompts Investigation

Officials are investigating a fire on Martin Nash Road in Lilburn, but they are not releasing many details.

A late morning fire prompted officials to call investigators to the 1300 block of Martin Nash Road in Lilburn. According to officials, just before noon crews were dispatched to a home on Martin Nash Road, where firefighters "found fire conditions." One resident at the home was treated at the scene and then transported for further assistance.  Due to the "nature of the fire incident and circumstances with the patient, investigators were called to the scene," said Lt. Colin Rhoden, of Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. On Saturday afternoon, the home did not appear to be very damaged on the outside, and a neighbor was boarding up windows where fire and smoke had damaged the inside. Officials Rule House Fire an Arson

A month after a fire on Vivid Drive in unincorporated Stone Mountain, fire investigators are calling it an arson.

Gwinnett County arson investigators now are ruling a house fire in unincorporated Stone Mountain as an arson. The fire happened about 8 a.m. on June 22, very near Lilburn. And, after many hours "investigators painstakingly reviewed the information found at the scene, the neighborhood and surrounding area and determined that the fire was suspicious in nature," said Lt. Colin Rhoden, in a press release. On the day of the fire, emergency workers arrived to the 5100 block of Vivid Drive, where heavy fire and smoke billowed from a home, according to the press release. Crews then were able to slow damage to nearby areas, and to save the Vivid Drive home, though there was extensive interior damage. The "unusual" spread of the fire and the amount …

Update: June House Fire Ruled Arson

Fire investigators had requested an arson K9 from the state to investigate the June 22 blaze, which caused heavy damage to the inside of the home.

Fire Destroys House on Indian Way

The house wasn't occupied and no one was injured when a fire broke out Friday morning.

  A fire that broke out Friday morning totally destroyed a house on Indian Way in Lilburn, the Gwinnett County fire department said. The house wasn't occupied and no one was injured, according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. "The blaze caused a total loss of the structure," Rutledge said in an email. People who had been living in the house returned Friday morning and told firefighers that they are in the process of moving out. Only a "few minor contents" were found inside the house, Rutledge said. The blaze was already intense by the time firefighters responded at about 6 a.m. Friday. They were able to prevent it from spreading to nearby houses. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Family of Four Displaced by Fire on Hampton Trail

No injuries were reported in a fire that displaced two adults and two teenagers.

A three-engine fire has displaced a Lilburn family of four, two adults and two teenagers, Wednesday night. The family wasn't home when the fire started and came home as neighbors were calling 911. Gwinnett County firefighters arrived to find the rear of the two-storey house engulfed in flames, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge, spokesman for the fire department, in an email. The fire caused "extensive damage" to the attic and porch, and part of the deck collapsed, Rutledge said. The fire appears to have started beneath the screened porch, and the cause is under investigation. "Firefighters worked aggressively to control the blaze using multiple hoselines," Rutledge said, and had the fire under control within 35 minutes after arriving on the scene.

Update: Family Escapes Fire Unharmed

Neighbor said he heard explosions, then saw garage at home on Silversmith Lane was on fire; two pets may have perished.

Here is the original story: A family escaped unharmed from a fire that broke out in the garage of a home on Silversmith Lane Sunday night. Tom Marchbanks, who lives next door, told Patch that he heard a couple of explosions, then saw "the garage door lit up like something was outside burning." He said family members got out OK, but were still looking for pets. Three Children Injured in Fire

The cause of the accidental fire was unattended food on the stove, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services say.

Three children suffered moderate to significant burns about the upper body from a fire at their home on Thursday, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said. The children, ages 6,9 and 15, were transported to Grady Burn Center with non-life-threatening burns. Fire crews arrived at the one-story home in the 1200 block of Tara Court in unincorporated Stone Mountain to find moderate smoke conditions, the fire department said. The crews started putting out the fire and while entering the home were met at the door by three children; their mother was at work at the time, the department said. Arson Blamed for House Fire in Norcross

Neighbors called the fire department Saturday night after seeing smoke coming from in a vacant home on Kay Drive.

Fire Investigators have determined that a fire in a vacant home in unincorporated Norcross Saturday night was intentionally set. The Georgia Arson Control, Inc. is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for arson. Firefighters responded to a call from neighbors Saturday night at 8:05 p.m. to the 6000 block of Kay Drive, NW located near Singleton Road. Firefighters found the home filled with smoke and a fire in one of the bedrooms. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Update: Lilburn Police Captain's Home Destroyed in Fire; Donations Sought

The family of five lost everything, including pets, in a blaze, according to the Lilburn Business Association.

Lilburn Police Captain Mike Johnson's home was totally destroyed by a fire on Wednesday, and the family lost everything, including pets, the Lilburn Business Association said. Johnson, his wife and three children are living in a motel and are in need of all the basics, the association said in an email.  "He's such a strong man, but this has really rocked him to the core," said Lilburn Police Captain Ben Haynes. The family is doing well, considering their loss, he said. "Now it's just getting through the process of working the insurance." The family's home was in Winder. No Injuries Reported in Early Morning Fire in Lilburn

Fire on Country Lake Court started under the back deck.

An early Monday morning fire in Lilburn caused moderate damage to a home on the 5300 block of Country Lake Court, according to the Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services. In a media release sent at 9:13 p.m. Monday evening, Gwinnett Fire public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the cause of the fire had not been determined, but it was believed to an accident. No injuries were reported.
