A trial date has been set for a Lilburn man accused in the killing and dismemberment of a Mercer University Law student in 2011, according to media reports. Stephen McDaniel, the man from Lilburn accused of murdering fellow law student Lauren Giddings in Macon, was may get out of jail on bond to stay with his parents in Lilburn, 11Alive reported. Bibb County Superior Court Judge Philip Brown granted McDaniel an $850,000 bond on the condition that McDaniel's lawyers prove their client isn't likely to flee and isn't a threat to others, according to the report. McDaniel last year was charged with murdering and dismembering Giddings. He also faces charges of 30 counts of child endangerment for alledged possession of child pornography. Macon police are searching a Twiggs County landfill for the remains of Lauren Giddings, 11Alive reported, citing Associated Press. Stephen Mark McDaniel, 25, a Parkview High School graduate, was charged with Giddings' murder and dismemberment. McDaniel lived next door to Giddings in a Macon apartment building. Giddings was reported missing on June 25, and five days later, police found her torso wrapped in plastic in a garbage bin next to the apartment building. FBI agents and police officers have volunteered to help with the latest search, the report said.

Stephen McDaniel, the Lilburn native accused in the brutal June murder of his Macon law-school classmate, faces new charges of sexual exploitation of children, according to the Macon Police Department. According to a Macon PD press release, Police Chief Mike Burns and Bibb County District Attorney Greg Winters said warrants were signed Tuesday afternoon charging McDaniel with seven counts of sexual exploitation of children.
