Families gathered along Main Street for the annual Christmas parade and celebration
Lilburn celebrated Christmas early with its annual parade taking place on Dec. 1, 2012. There were some 100 entries in the parade, including Cub Scouts packs, Girl Scouts troops, the Parkview High School band, the Gwinnett Braves, local businesses, schools, churches, Santa, the city's mayor, and more. -- Where you at the parade? As part of the Lilburn Christmas festivities, the Lilburn Business Association collected cans -- more than 2,000 -- from parade participants before the big day.
The Lilburn Christmas parade may be Saturday, but many are already in the spirit of the season. As part of the activities for the parade, the Lilburn Business Association (LBA) -- which is leading parade efforts -- collected cans from participants on Friday, Nov. 29. The cans are being donated to the Lilburn Co-op. From 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., LBA president Andrew Bell of BB&T, secretary Lisa French of Action Fitness and Porter Deal of Lilburn Realty were at Lilburn City Hall accepting cans from Cub Scout troops, local hospitals, businesses, law enforcement, and more. By the end of the drop-off period, some 2,713 cans were collected; that's nine times as many that LBA gathered last year. Those nonprofits, or other groups, with the most cans will …

The annual Christmas parade will be in just a few weeks, on Dec. 1. Applications for parade participants are available.
The city's annual Christmas parade winds down Main Street on Dec. 1, 2012. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church and heads to the city's park, where Santa's elf will parachute down for the grand finale about 11 a.m. Bryan Shepard, the owner and operator of the Lilburn Chick-Fil-A, will be this year's Grand Marshal. Marching bands will be featured, along with more than 100 decorated floats, tractors, and classic cars. Attendees will also be able to take free photos with Santa in the park and enjoy music, children’s activities and refreshments that can be purchased.
