Politicians, Republicans especially, are scrambling for position to replace Saxby Chambliss.
Republican 10th District U.S. Rep. Paul Broun is running for Senate in 2014. So is Republican 1st District U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston. And Republican 11th District U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey. But Republican Tom Price, who represents the 6th District, announced Friday that he's not. Which might open the door for former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, a pal of Price's, who said in a statement last week that she'd end the suspense "in the very near future." Bomb Threat Made in Bank Robbery - Duluth Patch Gwinnett County Police are looking for a man who is suspected of robbing a Chase Bank Monday, Feb. 18, after indicating that he had a bomb. According to a press release emailed Tuesday afternoon, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the robbery was reported at the Chase Bank at 3780 Old Norcross Road in unincorporated Duluth around 1:15 p.m. Monday. Niki Broun can't wait for her husband, 10th District U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, to throw his hat in the ring for the 2014 United States Senate race, according to a report in the ViralRead blog. A post picked up by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says Niki Broun told the group Citizens Helping America Restore Government Ethics on Tuesday that her husband had her permission to run, and that he was announcing his candidacy. Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced last week that he would not seek a third term, opening the way for a spirited primary among potential successors. Rep. I think Mr. Broun is entitled to believe what he wishes. I do not think his beliefs should be a factor in his governance, There are many of his constituents who do not believe as he does, many folks who do not wish to have his particular faith take precedence over another faith or have it rammed down their throats.
