Spring is a busy time of year for unwanted feral cat communities and their caregivers.
Some concerned Gwinnett citizens spend their spare time capturing feral cat colonies or helping to maintain them. But with spring comes the births of many more unwanted kittens. Most of these cats live wild and must hunt for food, and the birth of kittens puts a hardship on the mothers and makes many kittens unhealthy. With the caring and generosity of volunteers, many of these unfortunate cats or kittens find loving homes, and therefore have a chance to live healthy happy lives. What can be done to help this situation, is to make sure that you have your animals spayed or neutered. According to the Mountain Park Animal Hospital this should be done around the age of 6 months, or as soon as the animals are finished with their first shots. …
