County Trash Schedule, Office Hours for President's Day

Gwinnett County offices will be closed for President's Day.

All Gwinnett County government offices, with the exception of those operations required for the comfort and safety of residents, will be closed Feb. 18 for the Presidents’ Day holiday. County offices will resume normal business hours on Feb. 19. A Magistrate Court judge will be available at the Gwinnett County Detention Center during the holiday. Presidents’ Day is not a trash and recycling holiday for solid waste providers in unincorporated Gwinnett County, so trash and recycling collections are scheduled as normal. The Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Recycling Call Center will be closed that day, but hauler call centers will be open. No School for Gwinnett Friday, Monday

Gwinnett County public schools are closed Feb. 15 and Feb. 18 (President's Day). See what other upcoming days will impact students and teachers.

It will be a long weekend for Gwinnett County Public Schools students. School will be closed Friday, Feb. 15 and Mon. Feb. 18, President's Day. Neither students nor teachers report to class. These days were originally scheduled as this school year's first snow make-up days. However, the district has not had to close because of bad weather. Upcoming Days to Remember Feb. 25 - 26: These are early release days for kindergarten through eighth grade. Classes are ending early for parent-teacher conferences. March 11: This is a student holiday, and a planned furlough day for school employees. March 29: This is the next snow make-up day. Teachers and students will be out that day if there are no weather cancellations until then.

The weather: Nice for those with a day off on Presidents Day: Sunny, with a high of about 58, the National Weather Service says. The low tonight will be around 38 degrees. Gas prices crept up while we weren't looking this weekend. The lowest price for a gallon of regular in Lilburn reported to www.georgiagasprices.com Sunday was 4 cents higher than Friday, at $3.45 (at Kroger, 4155 Lawrenceville Hwy at Beaver Ruin Road and at two other places). The highest price was $3.58 (at Texaco, 4785 Lawrenceville Hwy at Indian Trail Lilburn Road, and at Chevron, 4784 Hwy 29 at Killian Hill Road). Presidents Who? What? It's Presidents Day.
