Lilburn Police Offer Car Seat Safety Checks
The safety checks are every Thursday.
As part of a commitment to public safety, the Lilburn Police Department offers car set safety checks for the community. The safety checks are free, and are held Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 76 Main Street. A specially trained officer will check all car seats for parents, caregivers and others. Appointments can also be made by calling Lt. Chris Dusik at 770-638-2185. According to Safe Kids USA, when properly installed car seats can reduce fatal injury by up to 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers (ages 1 to 4). However, among child passenger deaths in 2009 (most recent date), 31 percent of children 4 years old and younger and 42 percent of children ages 4 to 7 were unrestrained.
