DNR Offers Free Shooting Range Time for Hunters' Education Graduates

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is offering hunter education graduates an opportunity to “give it a shot” for free. This is offered through a free three-month pass to any of the 18 Department of Natural Resources (DNR) shooting ranges in Georgia. Typically, a wildlife management area license, which costs $19, or other qualifying license would be required for shooters age 16 and up. “A recent study of hunter education graduates showed that 26 percent of them did not purchase a hunting license within the first year of passing the test,” said Walter Lane, hunter development program manager. “When they don’t get the chance to hunt right away, it is a chance that we have lost a hunter.
