Two Arrested in Series of Bank Robberies

Two suspects are charged with the August robbery of a Lilburn Wells Fargo Bank and a SunTrust Bank in Norcross, and they may face more charges in a string of bank heists around Metro Atlanta.

Two men have been charged in a series of recent robberies around Metro Atlanta, including that of a Wells Fargo Bank in unincorporated Lilburn and a SunTrust branch in Norcross. Henry Lee Johnson, 20, and Ebanga Asuamah, 27, were arrested and charged with the Lilburn and Norcross robberies, Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett County police said. Additional charges are being investigated by police in Gwinnett, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and the FBI, Smith said in an email. In the August robbery of the Lilburn Wells Fargo, an armed man took $10,000 from tellers and feld. In November, a man entered the SunTrust Bank in Norcross and demanded cash at gunpoint, jumping up on a counter and threatening the teller. He took about $18,000 and fled. In …

SunTrust to Build New Branch in Lilburn

Bank is expected to be completed by the end of the year on site where pizzeria used to stand.

Residents who drive past the Publix shopping center on Five Forks-Trickum Road have undoubtedly noticed the large pile of dirt that has replaced what used to be a pizzeria. Soon, the dirt will be replaced by a new bank. A SunTrust spokesman said Wednesday that the Atlanta-based bank is building a new branch at 4009 Five Forks-Trickum — next to the Wendy’s and in front of the Publix — which is expected to be open late this year. “We need more space than what we currently have at our instore branch in Publix within that same center,” SunTrust spokesman Hugh Suhr said in an email. “So basically the branch will be relocated from within Publix to the standalone at the outparcel. Completion is set for late in the fourth quarter of this year.” …
