Is the contest between the undefeated Bulldogs and the undefeated Gamecocks the biggest SEC game ever, or just this season, or just this week, or just in South Carolina?
Attention, people outside of Georgia and South Carolina: Do not call, email, text, Facebook or even knock on the doors of people inside Georgia and South Carolina between the hours of 7 and 11 p.m. on Saturday. So we'll see who gets bragging rights for the next year. -- How will your favorite SEC team fare this weekend? Tell us in the comments below. The teams are ranked in the Top 25 (Florida 18th, Tennessee 23rd), and both are on Georgia's schedule later in the year. So stay tuned. The University of Georgia has a new Uga and high expectations going into the 2012 season.
ATHENS, GA -- First things first: There's a new Uga in town, and he's got a familiar face. The new Bulldog mascot, Uga IX, is none other than Russ, a frequent interim Uga during the line's tumultuous few years. The Athens Banner-Herald reports that Russ first saw Uga duty in 2009, when his half-brother, Uga VII, died. The selection is not without controversy, as some students the Banner-Herald interviewed are unhappy he's not a direct descendant of the original. Meanwhile, the human Bulldogs are preparing for their 2012 opener against Buffalo with some serious study. ESPN's DawgNation blog reports that coaches and quarterback Aaron Murray are burrowing into old game tapes from Buffalo's new defensive coordinator, Lou Tepper. The Macon …

The toxic algae have also been found in at least one other pond less than 10 miles from the Dacula cattle farm. Georgia's football team never looked back after its 0-2 start this year, winning 10 straight games to earn a berth in Saturday's SEC championship game in the Georgia Dome against No. 1 ranked LSU. Here's some things to think about before the game:
Council urges the Board of Regents to rescind the policy preventing undocumented high schoolers from applying to selective public colleges.
After lively, impassioned debate, the University Council voted overwhelmingly Thursday to ask the Board of Regents to reconsider a policy that violates rules about non-discrimination. They want the Regents to lift a rule that bans undocumented high school students from applying to the state's five selective institutions. These include UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia College and State University and the Georgia Health Sciences University. The faculty was "within their rights to do what they did," said UGA President Michael Adams, who's meeting with Chancellor Hank Huckaby on Friday. "They debated the issue thoroughly and then reacted and voted." The resolution that passed is modeled largely on one adopted unanimously in early …
