Surgery Led to Loss of 95 Pounds
Lilburn resident Yvonne Wallace says gastric bypass surgery changed her life.
Yvonne Wallace wanted off the roller-coaster of weight management. Diet and exercise weren’t working anymore and the stresses of life — becoming a single parent after her husband died in 1995, making ends meet and going back to school — took a toll. “My health was deteriorating,” she said. “I needed to do something about it.” It was 18 months ago when the 56-year-old clinical social worker from Lilburn made what she believes was the most important health decision of her life. She chose gastric bypass surgery. She was the first patient at the Gwinnett Medical Center’s Center for Surgical Weight Management, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. Hello Yvonne, I am very proud of you. I know this was a hard struggle from day to day carry that extra weight,but now you have made the right decision to loss it. Yvonne, you are a totally different person and now you are almost back to your weight during your college days. Keep up the good work, I know it was not easy but you are a strong survivor.
