Water Main Work in Holly Ridge Subdivision

Gwinnett County commissioners recently approved a nearly $400,000 road and water project for an area of Lilburn.

From a Gwinnett County government press release: Gwinnett County's Water Resources Department received approval by commissioners on Tuesday for projects in the Lilburn and Peachtree Corners areas. One project will replace 3,500 feet of PVC water pipe with new 8-inch ductile iron pipe in the Holly Ridge subdivision in Lilburn. Reeves Contracting Company was the lowest of eight bidders at $393,040. The work will take about 180 days. The second project will build storm drain facilities and restore 2,580 feet of stream on tributaries of the Chattahoochee River in the Peachtree Station subdivision in Peachtree Corners. The Dickerson Group had the lowest bid at $710,476. The contract will be paid by the Water and Sewer Renewal and Extension Fund…

Former Gwinnett Commissioner Reportedly Files for Bankruptcy

Kenerly lists debts of $3.5 million.

Former Gwinnett County Commissioner Kevin Kenerly, who left office amid a scandal in 2010, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to a published report. Kenerly reported assets of less than $50,000 and debts of about $3.5 million, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He represented District 4, which includes Lawrenceville, Braselton, Buford and Sugar Hill. Kenerly left office amid a grand-jury investigation into allegations that commissioners overpaid for some land deals that benefited commissioners' allies. The AJC report said that Kenerly's debts include $1.6 million on a house in Chateau Elan in Braselton, custom designed with nine bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, and currently for sale at $2.8 million.
