Woodall Announces January Town Hall Meetings

One will be a telephone meeting; the other two will be in person in Gwinnett and Forsyth counties.

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) will host his first round of Town Hall Meetings for 2013 in his Seventh District, which consists of parts of Gwinnett and Forsyth counties. Two of these meetings will be in-person and one will be over the telephone.  “We have our work cut out for us this Congress,” said Woodall in a press release announcing the upcoming meetings. “With all of the drama surrounding the so-called fiscal cliff ‘deal’ at the end of the last Congress, Americans are demanding not only answers from Washington, but action.  "I hosted multiple Town Hall Meetings throughout those debates to ensure that those I represent made their voices heard, and to ensure that they were kept informed throughout the entire process.”  He added: "Now …

Rep. Rob Woodall: 'Washington Doesn't Have a Revenue Problem'

Rep. Rob Woodall offers an update on the fiscal cliff crisis in this letter to the editor.

(Editor's note: the following is a letter to the editor from Rep. Rob Woodall.) Our 2012 deficit is $1.1 trillion.  While the federal government took in just as much tax revenue ($2.4 trillion) this year as it did in 2006, the annual deficit has grown 340%.   Why?   Higher spending.   Notwithstanding what is being reported in the popular press, I can tell you with certainty that Washington doesn't have a revenue problem—it has a spending problem!   This Administration's higher spending has made it the first in history to run an annual deficit exceeding one trillion dollars. This Administration has continued this same record deficit spending for the past four years now.   To us, seeing such a dramatic increase in deficits while revenue …

Well, Congressman Woodall it would nice to see members of the House and Senate challenge President Obama on his nefarious plans for us. I just read an article that claims: an average day, the government collects 5 billion dollars in revenues and spends approximately 11 billion. The big spenders would be: 3 billion per day for Health and Human Services, 2.5 billion per day for Social Security, 1.8…   more ›

Rep. Rob Woodall: "I Will Not be Complicit in Kicking the Can Down the Road"

Rep. Woodall discusses his thoughts on the fiscal cliff in this letter to the editor.

(Editor's note: the following was sent by Rep. Rob Woodall as a letter to the editor to Snellville Patch.) If you've turned on a television or opened a newspaper in the last few weeks, you've no doubt seen the so-called "fiscal cliff" conversation unfolding in Washington.  The "fiscal cliff" is Washington-speak for the expiration of Bush-era tax rates coupled with across-the-board spending cuts on many domestic spending accounts.   While the fiscal cliff coverage continues to escalate as the January deadline draws near, I can tell you these discussions are absolutely nothing new.  They are a continuation of every discussion that the House and the President have had during my two years in Congress: the President wants to see taxes go up and…

Woodall Schedules Telephone Town Hall Meetings

Woodall to inform, seek input from Seventh District constituents on fiscal cliff issue.

With fiscal cliff talks in full swing in Congress, U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Lawrenceville) has scheduled three telephone town hall meetings with his Seventh District constituents in December. “America’s wellbeing hangs in the balance of decisions we make over the next few weeks. As fiscal talks escalate here in Congress, it’s critical that the Seventh District know what is happening in Washington, and that I hear their input,” Woodall said in a press release announcing the telephone talks.  The House’s schedule prevents him from scheduling any in-person town hall meetings in December, he said. Here is the schedule: They will be open to all constituents in the Seventh District.  Toll-free call-in information is the same for all three events…

Rob Woodall (R, Lawrenceville), delivered the morning invocation on the House floor. The pastor's appearance was announced in a press release from Woodall's office. “It was a pleasure to host Dr. Haynes up here in Washington, D.C.  The spirit and life Dr. Haynes brings to his calling as a pastor can be felt by anyone who meets him.  I’m honored to share a beacon of light from the Seventh District of Georgia with the entire U.S. House of Representatives.  I thank Dr. Haynes for the good work he has done, and will continue to do, on behalf of his …

David Hancock is COO of Automation Control Products. Also, a Lawrenceville attorney will seek the district post as a Democrat.

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall has a challenger in his bid for re-election. David Hancock, of Suwanee, the chief operating officer of Alpharetta-based Automation Control Products, has qualified as a Republican to challenge Woodall, according to records with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. The GOP primary is July 31. Qualifying as a Democrat to seek the District 7 seat was Steve Reilly of Lawrenceville. Do you think Rob Woodall will win re-election to Congress? Tell us in the comments below. Hancock said on his website that he would serve just one term and would not accept any campaign funds. "Congress should not be a career, so my goal is to spend only one term in Washington," Hancock's website reads. "Serving in Congress would be a great …

Representative Woodall Holds Town Hall in Lilburn

Representative Rob Woodall held a Gwinnett town hall meeting at Calvin Fitchett Municipal Complex in Lilburn Saturday Morning.

U.S. Representative Rob Woodall, who represents Lilburn in Georgia’s Seventh District, answered questions from the general public. Although he is not up for re-election next week, Woodall is making sure to reach the general public. A brief introduction and a question and answer session was held for an hour in Lilburn. Citizens voiced their concerns on the economy, personal, local, and international issues. It got a bit hostile and personal at times from detractors in the hour-long town hall meeting. Woodall addressed concerns about the “Super Committee” in Congress. One man believed that the Super Committee was bringing on the “destruction of America.” When asked about sending money to countries like Afghanistan and other countries that “…

Large Crowd Greets Congressman During Town Hall

A large, and mostly supportive, crowd turned out for Tuesday's town hall meeting in Lawrenceville with U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall of Georgia's Seventh District.

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall of the Georgia’s Seventh District, speaking to a largely supportive crowd at a town hall meeting in Lawrenceville Tuesday, told attendees the new way of imposing tax is through regulation (see video clip). He said although no regulations have come before Congress during his seven months in office, 600 new government regulations were either finalized or proposed during the month of July alone. Woodall defended his vote on raising the debt ceiling, saying it reduced the size and scope of government and, for the first time in American history, it was linked to dollar for dollar spending cuts. He reiterated his support for the Cut, Cap and Balance Bill that the House of Representatives passed, but that the Senate wouldn’t…

Woodall: Future Depends on '12 Elections

Freshman representative predicts record turnout and says America is going to win because of it.

Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) is already looking forward to next year. Speaking at the Aug. 11 Founding Fathers Tea Party Patriots meeting at the Flying Machine in Lawrenceville, Woodall said the packed town hall meetings and the passion of his constituents are good indicators that 2012 will bring a record turnout at the polls (see video). “I’ve told anybody that will listen that 2012 is going to be exciting,” he said. “It’s going to be exciting, I’ll tell you, because everybody that President Barack Obama inspired to turn out to the polls in 2008 -- they are all coming back again.” The Democrats are not the only ones who will return to the polls, he added. “Everybody that the Tea Party and 9-12 and other conservative groups inspired to come …

Woodall says "We are going to have the largest voter turnout in any of our lifetimes” Seriously? Between the fact that Obama's continuation of nearly every single Bush policy has turned off most of the young and independents (along with the left, obviously) who voted for him, and the other fact that the republican options resemble a roster out of Arkum Asylum, I wouldn't be surprised if this …   more ›
