Does Your Neighborhood Have a Speeding Problem?

One Lilburn resident talks how the speeding in her neighborhood contributed to the death of her dog.

Every city has its roads that speeders tend to abuse.

Recently, one reader wrote into Lilburn Patch about the issue in her neighborhood. Calling the speeding "out of control," resident Aleisha McGee of the Lee Acres and Hanary Estates subdivision near Hickory Ridge Road, said drivers are going as fast as 70 miles per hour. The speed limit is only 25 miles per hour.

The speeding also contributed to the death of her dog.

"My sweet dog was hit and killed [earlier this month] after getting out of the back yard, and no one stopped," said McGee. "I believe anyone that could hit and leave a dog in the middle of the road for his owners to find could do the same thing to a child."

And children are seen playing in the neighborhood, too. She continued that her daughter was actually almost hit by a jeep but luckily jumped out of the way without being injured. Her scooter was run over, though, and that driver didn't stop, either.

"I live here and we have a horrible problem," said McGee. "This has to stop."
