Parkview Student Walking to School Struck, Seriously Injured, By Vehicle

Boy, 16, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center.

Gwinnett Police say 16-year-old Jonathan Porter was on his way to school when he was struck and seriously injured Tuesday morning on Five Forks-Trickum Road in Lilburn.

The Parkview High School student was hit by a Buick Century around 7 a.m. while trying to cross Five Forks-Trickum Road near the intersection of Arlene Court.  There is no crosswalk at that location.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the preliminary investigation indicates no signs of excessive speed, alcohol or drugs by the driver

“The driver did stop at the scene and no charges are pending at this point, however, the investigation is ongoing,” Smith said.
